FIFA Cracks Down: Samuel Eto’o Handed 6-Month Ban for Misconduct
In a stern move, FIFA has imposed a six-month ban on Cameroonian football legend, President of Ficafoot Mr Samuel Eto’o, effective immediately.
The disciplinary action comes after a thorough investigation into Eto’o’s conduct, which was deemed unacceptable by the governing body.
According to sources
close to the matter, Eto’o’s ban stems from a series of incidents that violated FIFA’s code of ethics. That’s for violating Articles 13 (Offensive behaviour and violation of the principles of fair play) and 14 (Improper conduct by players and officials) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
The sanction imposed is linked to the round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup™ between Brazil and Cameroon in Bogotá (Colombia) on 11 September 2024.
It is understood that Eto’o’s behavior was deemed detrimental to the sport and its values.
The six-month suspension on Mr Eto’o will prevent him from attending men’s and women’s football matches involving FECAFOOT representative teams, in all categories or age groups.
This decision serves as a strong reminder that FIFA takes allegations of misconduct seriously and will not hesitate to take action when necessary.
Even though faced with criticism, Mr Eto’o, has been welcome in Cameroon by many for revamping the Sports sector
