AFCON 2023: South Africa beats Morocco 2 goals to nil in round of 16 game

In a stunning round of 16 game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), South Africa emerged victorious with a resounding 2-0 win over Morocco. The match showcased South Africa’s exceptional teamwork, tactical prowess, and individual brilliance. 

From the outset, it was evident that South Africa was determined to seize control of the game and make a statement. With a solid defense that showcased impressive resilience and composure, they effectively neutralized Morocco’s attacking threat. In the 57th minute, South Africa broke the deadlock as striker E. Makgopa unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box, leaving the Moroccan goalkeeper no chance.

Their second goal came in the 90+5th minute when T. Mokoena  expertly curled a free-kick into the top corner, leaving the Moroccan goalkeeper rooted to the spot. Although Morocco fought valiantly to get back into the game, South Africa’s disciplined defense stood firm, denying them any real chances to score.
